This letter has been addressed to DC counsil member Vincent Gray.

    Mr. Gray,

It took me no time to find your contact information.

It didn’t cast me any trouble to find contact information of the members of your team who dedicate themselves implementing your vision and your goals into the lifes of common DC citizens. I do not represent a common DC citizen. I am a part of doomed community, i.e. homeless comunity.

I am not able to find contact information of, so elusive, mervil smith, homeless service outreach coordinator, DC department of human services.

He is a busy very important man with unknown to me mission.

And I would like you to investigate his mission in regards to so much disregarded homeless comunity of Harriott Tubman shelter.

Please do dedicate your time reading my letter. I haven’t received any replies. If you do speak with the people to whom this letter has been addressed let them know on my behalf that there is no way in hail I will subject myself to further humiliation.

This letter has been sent to Congresswoman Elenor Holmes Norton.

I requested a reply from her office.

    August 10th, 2020

I shame you, persons of faith, and I shame you all with a great shame.

You have given your names and the Catholic symbol of your church for the good cause but you all failed to control how this cause have been implemented into the everyday routine of homeless women.

My presentation will not be long but will be convincing enough for you to get involved and do somethingì to stand up for your faith and your symbol.
All atrocities against humanity begin with the same scenario. They start with the abuse of one/a few persons. For reasons unknown to the general public, the guilty avoid justice and punishment. Well founded in their criminal ways, without fear for their immoral acts, without doubts of their dominance over others, without reason or motive, simply, by the absolute power they achieve in their jobs, they can mortify an innocent, defenseless person.

The facility in review is Harriet Tubman homeless shelter.
To my conviction, it is a black owned family business (not a single person of administration, staff members, social workers, and security is white or any other ethnicity) with quite a few unprofessional unconscientious emploeeys, who detest homeless women.

I permit myself to introduce to you a very few evidences (I will never finish my letter if i start listing them all), and I will allow you all to decide for themselves what is humane or human in these presented acts, enacts, and inactions.

I permit myself to remind you that a not a single person of your church visits this shelter.

I permit myself to remind you all that your church offers pastoral care to incarcerated peoplem.

I permit myself to remind you that there are no resources offered to homeless women of the shelter to stress and/or psycological abuse.

And the most important to me question:

who is responsible for emotional integrity and safety of homeless women in this shelter?

The replies, I was given, when I tried to address any, questionable to me, situations with the members of administration, or, so called social workers, were the same all the time.

“You don’t like it, go find another place…

You dont like it, write a grievance…”

We, meaning, any person employed to work at the shelter: administrgation member, staff member, security guard, social worker, etc, everyone has something to say, everyone has a need to put you in your place and the place is called “you are nothing…”

    And here it goes…

Once at recent then and now..

    What is humane or humaine?:

to have mentally disabled women without proper psyciatric care, without a single psyciatric professional on premises

(by the way, I was fisically threatened by the clients of the shelter who were mentally disabled??? For weeks I’ve been terrorised by these women. And now again I have two “admirers” who give me their dirty words of threats to deal with.

    What to do?

The nameless faceless unconscientious persons who have decided on low barrier shelter, shook hands with the devil himself.

    What is humaine or human?:

to have a scanning device inside the shelters rooms to control, as to say, spy on security staff members 24/7. A member of security team has to go through the room to the window under which the scan has been positioned and scanned herself with some kind of electronic mechanism. When she does it the scan makes an awful noise which wakes me up several times a night, every time this scan is performed. How is this action beneficial to me? Or nothing have to be beneficial to a homeless individual that I am at the very present moment…

    What is humaine or human?:

to have bright white artificial light inside at day time and to have light at night time and not to be allowed to block it with a piece of clothes?

    What is humaine or human?:

there are no sitting areas outside of the shelter (not a single bench, not a single table). And inside of the shelter women are not allowed to use kitchen areas to sit down, to communicate, to be humans… Women are sitting on a ground like birds, like cats and dogs…

    What is humaine or human?:

there is ongoing problem with electrical power at the shelter. Very often there is no air inside whatsoever. The windows of the shelter are sealed, meaning, there is no ventilation in the rooms. To remind you all about what people do when they sleep. They fart.

The size of the rooms 27 X 15. There were 16 women in a room before covid. And now there 10 women. Can you imagine the quality of the air in this room?

From the screen of TV private citizens of the country constantly complaining about their emotional anguish, stress, grief, pain they go through every single day.

I am giving a grief asking to turn a fan on because I am suffocating in a room I am in. What is humaine or human about this?

    PS

To everyone who will judge the quality of my writing… I don’t have neither desire nor interest to refine the style of my writing at the present time. I can give you examples of laughfable writings by the la times correspondents. If you insist. Just remember that this small letter about some homeless women in DC who are diminished in their value (of course, if you think that homeless women, in general, have no value, especially, black women), diminished in their importance (what a strange assumption, isnt it… what importance homeless women can have for society), about homeless women living without quality of anything (unless, homeless women, and, black women, particularly, do not deserve quality of anything).

The quality of the professional integrity of the facility in DC where homeless women have a grand misfortune to reside at that extraordinary difficult time.

Quality of life is as important than life itself.

    Will you dispute this statement?

    Good afternoon Senator Strauss,

My name is Ransom Futrell, I’m a D.C. resident, and I’ve been selected to participate in Fulbright Austria’s US Teaching Assistant program this Fall. The trouble is, I sent my passport to be renewed in March, not knowing of course that a week later, US Passport Office operations would be shut down due to COVID-19. I’ve since learned that it’s in process, but of course since the Passport Office is unable to give me any estimates, I have no way of knowing if it will be ready in time for my first day of work (October 1), by which time I will also need to have applied for an Austrian residence permit and Visa (which I can’t do without my passport), and moved to Austria. I was hoping you would be able to help me sort this passport issue out or offer me some guidance as to how to proceed. Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Ransom Futrell

    Dear Senator Strauss,

Thank you for reading my email. My name is Sharon Lyu, and I am a software engineer in Seattle. I am writing this letter to you to tell you a recent immigration story of my close friend Mingmin Xuan, who is a journalist working for Voice of America. I am not sure if you have heard of the story but here is an article from Washington Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/media/voice-of-america-faces-loss-of-international-journalists-as-new-overseer-lets-visas-expire/2020/07/09/42f09844-c192-11ea-b4f6-cb39cd8940fb_story.html?fbclid=IwAR21_yjR9PNI2POsbJP7h_wp_tiDiv_7eO9BSZtvM83Tb0WykQYOL6gX1Qo

In short, Michael Pack, the new head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, has refused to extend the visas for VOA’s foreign journalists and my friend is one of the sufferers. Her J1 visa expired on 7/29, and since then, she only has a 30-day grace period of staying in this country before she has to leave. She has a life here, for 6 whole years. She is the most lovable person I know, and a hard-working employee who is loved by her manager and colleagues. She is only 3-4 months away from getting her green card. And now suddenly, “we will give you 30 days to get out of here”, under pandemics. She still has a long contract with her apartment, and not before long, she was hoping to buy a house in D.C. and fulfill her American dream. This is so very cruel and not acceptable to me and I want to let you know we both feel so astonished and devastated.

I’ve always thought the U.S. was the most welcoming country in the world, and that’s why so many of us, foreign students and workers, chose to come here and build our lives here. Is this really the time, when America becomes the most unfriendly country to these immigrants? Why should a head of a company, decide a model employee’s status in this country?

Black lives matter, immigrants’ lives matter too! Please help my friend! In any ways you can! Thank you senator!!!

    Sincerely,

    Sharon Lyu

    Dear Sir,

I am a 90% disabled veteran and I wanted to inquire as to why the nation’s capital has the fewest VA Compensation Benefits for it’s Veteran Residents than any other state? I was deeply saddened to see the lack of benefits found in D.C. when compared to other states. As our nation’s Capital, we should be setting the example and leading the way in providing benefits to veterans who call D.C. home. What are you doing to fix this? Please provide an response.

Hello, I am a constituent of yours in Washington DC and I am an advocate with The Borgen Project, an innovative nonprofit that serves as a voice for the world’s poor. Borgen Project advocates regularly meet with Members of Congress to build support for life-saving legislation and effective poverty-reduction programs. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you soon to discuss support for the International Affairs Budget and End Tuberculosis Now Act. If you are unable to meet with me, I would be happy to talk to a member of your staff as well. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

If the residents of WDC want representation in Congress they should move to a state. A reasonable alternative would be to return all of the residential area to Maryland. Statehood is unreasonable and unnecessary.

    Dear Senator Paul Strauss,

I am writing this urgent request as a concerned constituent with regard to police brutality, racism and white supremacy in the United States of America.

As an American citizen, I have consistently witnessed the injustices our Black American citizens are subjected to here in America. This unjustness can be seen at every level of our institutions: America’s justice, education and economic systems and these respective institutions have regularly failed Black Americans. From slave patrols to police brutality…from Anti-literacy laws to social economic inequities…from the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments and the North Carolina Eugenics policies to current health disparities…from the forced separation of families during slavery to broken homes in the 21st century – it is clear that systemic racism and white supremacy has and continues to permeate American culture, laws, policies and educational systems.

I wholeheartedly believe in the promises of “liberty and justice for all”, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” and “land of the free and home of the brave” for ALL U.S. citizens. The most recent string of country-wide murders of our unarmed Black American citizens by law enforcement agencies demonstrate that America’s most sacred promises have been empty for Black Americans. Despite the historical track record of the systemic injustices for this community, I still believe America can live up to its founding principals. In order for this great nation to grow and truly meet its aim, we must first admit to this horrific past and its lasting effects.

Thus, I hereby appeal that you immediately generate and pass a joint resolution to have the United States of America’s government formally acknowledge, admit and reconcile its role in the Trans-Atlantic/African slave trade and its pervasive influence on modern systemic racism, white supremacy and oppression of Black Americans. However, acknowledgement is only the first step to resolution. The current criminal justice system in the United States actively oppresses and murders members of minorities across the nation without bringing to justice the people responsible for countless unnecessary deaths. Recognizing the blatant injustice in our country, I also appeal that you fight to generate and pass legislation that ends qualified immunity for police officers, increases the educational requirements to become an officer, requires police to be extensively trained in de-escalation techniques and non-lethal methods, demilitarizes the police force, and gradually reallocates funds from the police force into critical sectors such as healthcare and education.

My fellow constituents and I will intently review your actions and record pertaining to this critical matter. Let’s make America great for all of its citizens!

Thank you for hearing this appeal.

    Sincerely,

    Per-Niklas Barth

    Senator Paul Strauss,

I ask that you leverage your voice and power to defund the police. As a citizen of the USA, I refuse to continue to watch the police state’s complete disregard for black life and lack of respect to our citizens who are protesting for black lives. We will no longer accept empty gestures and suggestions of reform. We demand that you aid in the achievement of justice for any and all victims of police brutality. It is not only your duty as a public official but as a human being.

I am urging you to revise the budgets in place/ for 2020-2021 and fund instead the well being of citizens. Please do understand – the police protect the white wealthy elite and not many else. I am curious what stakes you may have in upholding white supremacy and legacies of slavery and how these may benefit you – I can assure it DOES NOT benefit the people. We need to adopt a budget that focuses on helping the people, children, and families of your state that you took an oath to serve.

    Thank you,
